Details:

I read this book in my sci-fi eng class in hs. A boy gets recruited and leaves his family and goes to some space training place. The boy has to pass certain levels at this place and he ends up being a leader. It is all kids and they start to fight against each other and then end up destroying it. I cannot remember exactly but i remember it being very good and descriptive, I could see everything happening as i read it.

"Sounds like "Ender's Game"."

That sounds like Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. It's well-known enough that I recognize it even though I've never read it. I personally find Card very hit-or-miss: when he's good, he's great, and I loved the first several Alvin Maker books (which are fantasy, not SF); he's also a technically very adept writer, and has written a lot about the craft of writing. But when he starts to let his religion and social beliefs infect his writing, he starts to lose me big-time.

If you liked Ender's Game it, I recommend two parallel classics of military SF: Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein, and The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. Ultimately I think that both of these authors -- while very different from each other -- are far superior to Card.

It's one of the great classics of modern sci-fi.  Orson Scott Card won both a Hugo and a Nebula for it.  It's so great that they awarded him another Hugo and Nebula for the sequel, Speaker for the Dead, despite being a far inferior book.  (In fact, Card, a great writer, has never managed to equal the genius of that particular book.)

I'm pretty sure you're describing Ender's Game.  If you're not describing Ender's Game you should still read it since it's probably up there in the top 5 science fiction stories ever written.  There's a whole series based on this book now but so far I haven't been able to convince myself to sully my memory of the first book by reading the sequels.   Soon, perhaps.

There are several sequels, too.  It is a very popular story, and made Card's reputation.

And if you're reading Forever War, you might as well go back to Starship Troopers. (The book, not the idiotic movie). Starship Troopers is the great-grandaddy of the genre, and Forever War is sometimes considered Haldeman's response to Troopers.

All three are meditations on war, as well as being exciting and fun war books.
