Here's what I found:

I was only able to find these two options on-line.
A) drugstore.com sells Lifesaver books for $2.99. Like everything else today, they look weird to me--much too hip!--but they sound close to right, anyway! Here's what their site says: :
"Color of Storybook May Vary The Adventures of Santa's Rock Candy Band - Featuring Stretch
Eight Rolls, net wt 6.8 oz in Assorted Flavors" B) Nationwide Candy has a seasonal 'out of stock' Valentine's Lifesaver Book. Because we're closing in on Valentine's Day (from a retail point of view), I wonder whether they will be in stock very shortly--? "***Seasonal Item-Out of Stock*** Valentines Story Book filled with Lifesavers candy. Cupid is inside and the story is told about what he is up to. A great gift for all. Each book contains 8 rolls of lifesavers candy. Various flavors may include wild berries, butter rum, tropical fruit and five flavor."
I don't know whether either of these options will satisfy you. The second one comes closer to what I would want, but neither is exactly what I remember from my 1950s/60 childhood. I guess that figures!

Old time pictures seem to have disappeared but the boxes with new designs are still available for purchase
|
It seems as though the old boxes of lifesavers have been phased out but they do still sell these boxes at www.drugstore.com I have also seen them at my local Target Store, CVS and drug store chains around the country, usually at Valentines and Christmas Holiday.

I thought I was the only one who remembers these.
|
As a child I always got a Lifesaver Candy Book in my stocking. I continued the tradition with all of my children. I always found them at the Dollar Stores or Family Dollar but only at Christmas time.

I have an empty vintage Life Savers Sweet Box probably from the 50s. I bought it, filled with doll shoes & accessories from the 1950s, at a flea market. The box no longer contains the candy, but is a silver box with a Christmas tree decorated with Life Savers. The box indicates it is Volume 5 and that it "contains" (no longer contains) 12 5-cent rolls of candy.
