Details:

The amount of sugar in chewing gum seems to be one of the best kept secrets in the world. In a package of Wrigleys Doublemint there is no statement as to the amount of sugar used, only that sugar is used. Since the amount of sugar I use is a serious issue for me, this information could be very helpful.

A stick of doublemint gum has about 10 calories.  There's no fat or protein, so the entire calorie count has to come from the sugar. At 4 calories per gram, that means it's got 2 to 3 grams of sugar.  Call it 2.5 if you need to do your calculations that precisely.

What is the sugar content in your gum?
Each stick of our sugared brands, such as Wrigley's Spearmint, Doublemint, Winterfresh and Freedent gum, contains about a 1/2-teaspoon of sugar. You might be interested to know that sugar not only sweetens our gum but also adds bulk to the product to help give it a pleasant texture.

There are 4.2 grams of sugar in a teaspoon, so KathyB's answer and mine are equivalent; we just used different units.
