Details:

I have a Sony Handicam (digital video tape, not memory card/disk) and I've learned that Windows Vista doesn't have a USB driver that is compatible with the camera. (Argh!) I went online and found that a few people have had success using a firewire/iLink cable. Well, my laptop does not have a firewire connection. I found something that appears to be a thing that would go in my network card slot that would then five me two firewire/iLink connection. I'm hoping someone out there might have had any experience with this, or just knows more about computers than I do, which isn't saying much :)

Thank you to anyone who answers!

So here is what I think you probably need. Find out if your notebook uses a PCCARD or Express Card option. Its the thing that looks like a think credit card opening on the side of the macine. YOu can use an expansion card in there that will give you what you need.

Look for a Firewire/1394 option card, and you should be set.
