I actually had to make a note in my check book...to write out Forty Dollars and not fourty... To make life even more confusing...then you'd think 90 would be ninty...but no, it' Ninety Dollars. How ever do foreigners ever learn correct English when we, Americans have trouble with it <:O)

Have you ever heard the word "owelties?" Where, and in what context? I ran across it years ago in WordPerfect 5 for DOS -- late 1980s. If you spelled a certain word wrong and than ran spell check "owelties" would come up as a suggestion. I never did find it in a dictionary.

A Google search today finds only "about" 303 hits, many of which don't appear to actually contain this word. So it appears to be a really rare word. Ever run into it before? Know what it means?

For years I thought it was a typo, but then I found some reference or other that made me realize it was really a word. So why would WordPerfect have such an obscure word in it's dictionary way back then?

Weird.
