pest control

I found a bug that is about 1.5inches in length and about 0.25inch width. It looks just like http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/termite-9.gif king termite in that link picture. Is there any other bug that resemble this bugs' features or this is a termite for sure?

I have a Poinsettia which I have nurtured since Christmas. I live in Florida and keep it outdoors on the lanai. Its red leaves fell and were replaced with green. It was doing fine until a week ago when I noticed little white bugs (?) on the plant. They are the shape of rice but much smaller. They don't appear to crawl on the plant but when I touch or move the plant they fly around. I sprayed it with organic insecticide which did not cure the problem. What to I need to do? P.S. The other plants on my lanai are not affected.

They are about the size of the head of a straight pin, easy to squish, hard to see unless moving -- they're cement grey. They don't seem to be damaging anything, but they give me the creepies. What are they? How can I get rid of them without hurting my cats and stored stuff?

damage. The chips look like someone has taken a coarse saw to all the edges. We assume it is a rodent of some type but are at a loss what we can do to stop it. Any suggestions?

We have a newly constructed home and our yard is one year old sod. My husband has found two voles and a liter of babies so far and we removed them. We sprayed Liquid Fence for moles, voles, and rodents. This did not work. We ordered Shake-Away (bobcat & fox urine pellets). We had our pest control guy over today and he set traps. We are surrounded by fields on all sides of us and that is where the voles are coming from. We made a phone call to have the owner cut the tall grass down which should help. Is there anything else we can do that has been proven to work? My husband is very fussy about his lawn and he is not happy...please help!!!

For some odd reason and somehow slugs keep coming in my house. Its only at my back door that goes on to my back deck. There isn't any gaps between the door frame and the door. but they come in and get on my island right by that door and just everywhere! I'm sick of seeing them and i'm sick of having to get them out of her before they make my son freak out! IS there anything i can put down that will NOT harm children or pets? Please help! thanks

The house a few doors down has a nest of skunks living under the porch. My dog got sprayed by one of the little ones last night, but luckily not a direct hit. The neighbors (and we) want to get rid of them, but the local ordinances prohibit killing or trapping of wild animals. Any suggestions?

After searching the web for ways to rid my yard of chipmunks, the natural way suggested is to use various products that contain fox urine. We also have fox in the area and I am concerned the smell may attract the fox to my yard. Any ideas?

New holes appear every day!

I live on a horse ranch and use a wheelchair and ramp van for mobility. This spring I have been fighting field mice in the van. We've tried moth balls and oil of peppermint, but they have destroyed the electrical system twice, the spark plugs, the kneeling system, the door opening system, the crank sensor wiring... I've had it in the shop five times at a cost of over a thousand dollars. I've been in this situation for nine years and have never had this problem before. We even put the cat in the van overnight for two nights!!! We actually caught two mice in glue traps. And one of the LARGE field mice (nearly the size of an armadillo) died under the back seat and it took us three days to find it. Help!!! Last weekend I broke down on the Dallas beltway on my way back to Northern Oklahoma and was stranded until a service department opened on Monday.

So I have hauled out my brand new Have-A-Heart trap and have set it using a piece of cantaloupe as bait. Is there something even better than cantaloupe to use? What have others tried. Forget shooting the critter. That's not going to happen. BAIT! I need effective bait. Thanks for whatever you might suggest short of murdering this little thief.

Someone suggested moles. I haven't seen any, but there are small 5" by 3" holes dug around the flower beds near the garage. I have also seen a hole in one corner of the garage, which not only goes into the garage but also appears to tunnel underneath the floor. The pests really smell, stinking up the garage and my car. And they are driving my dog crazy -- she is always going out by the garage to sniff around for them.

My property borders a creek which harbors muskrats. They come into my yard to feed and make a mess.

I live in Middle Tennessee. Since it warmed up this week, all of a sudden I have a bunch of little flying insects in my house. They are small, a little bigger than the head of a straight pin, but rounded (like ladybugs are.) They are gray with tiny spots. They fly slowly, and aren't interested in food or water, but they are congregating where there is heat/light, like window sills and table lamps. They don't seem interested in the fluorescent lights in my kitchen, so I think they like the heat as well as the light. They have landed on me when I am reading in bed with a headboard lamp on, and they don't bite. They do crunch a bit when I squash them with a finger, but no guts come out (for which I am grateful!) I have found a few on a stuffed animal I have (a little Wishbone dog!), so maybe they eat fabric or fur. They are not termites, not Japanese Beetles...

If anyone can tell me what these are, and how to deal with them, I would be very appreciative!

Too many deer, and not enough food are causing the deer to eat most everything. Recently, they started eating a Nellie Stevens Holly, a species that they have never before eaten, in my experience.
