Details:

Does anyone know the name of the movie that is previewed just before Transformers starts? It features LOTS of action and features the head of the Statue of Liberty crashing into the middle of the steet.

The official name is Untitled J.J. Abrams Project

It’s being referred to as "Cloverfield" as well as 1-18-08.

The official web page is here:  http://www.1-18-08.com/   (just a couple of pictures at this point)

You can watch the trailer again here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/11808/

"Cloverfield" is the code name of an upcoming science fiction film produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Matt Reeves, and written by Drew Goddard. First publicized in advance screenings of Transformers, the secret project is slated for a January 18, 2008 release. Paramount has been reported to be carrying out a viral marketing campaign to promote the film. The as yet untitled film may also be using the working title "The Parasite" or "Slusho."[1]

Cast
Michael Stahl-David[2]
Odette Yustman[2]
Mike Vogel[2]
Lizzy Caplan[2]

[edit] Production
In February 2007, Paramount Pictures secretly greenlighted the project "Cloverfield" to be produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Matt Reeves, and written by Drew Goddard. The casting process was also carried out in secret, with no script being sent out to candidates.[2] It has been confirmed that Michael Stahl-David, Odette Yustman, Mike Vogel and Lizzy Caplan star in the movie. Stills from the trailer suggest that actor Kelvin Yu is also in the film. In an interview with MTV News, Yellowcard frontman Ryan Key recently denied that he has had any involvement with the film to this point, despite the facial likeness of an actor in the trailer. With production estimated to have a budget of $30 million, filming began in mid-June in New York.[2]

"It's the new J.J. Abrams project..."

The movie has a working title of Cloverfield.  But that could just be a disguise for the real title, much as the Star Wars movie Return of the Jedi was called "Blue Harvest" while it was filming, so they could keep the project a secret until they felt the time was right to announce the third movie.

It seems that more information is going to be released about this movie on August 1.  So be on the lookout!

I believe the producer or director of Lost is involved and it looks really cool. I've read it's about a giant monster that attacks New York and it's going to be filmed using handheld cameras, like in Blair Witch Project. I liked that type of shots in Blair Witch but many people have said it makes them feel dizzy, so we'll have to wait and see.
