I can purchase a policy through my employer for $461/month ($15 co-pay, 90%, 1200 annual deductible) or I can purchase a BCBS policy for as low as $300/month ($30 co-pay, 80%, 2000 annual deductible). If I typically only visit the doctor 3 times a year (1 annual physical and usually two sinus infections which I am prone to) the lower premium higher deductible seems to make more sense. But would I be shooting myself in the foot, so to speak, if something major happened? Which would you choose and why? Thanks :)
I'm a 20 year old college student and obviously don't have the means to purchase a house right now, let alone time! I figure by the time I actually do buy a house, prices will be back to normal and I'll be working a couple more years of my life to pay off my mortgage than I might've if I was born just a few years earlier! Is there any way I can "get in" on this market that's sure to rebound? I've got around $10,000 in stocks right now. If there's something better I can do with that money, let me know!
I want to go to a boarding school in Texas, and although I'd love to actually live on campus, day student tuition is around $20,000 cheaper, of course. so is there some sort of program for teens, or students in general, that go to school but want to live off campus to save money? Or anything similar? if the question doesn't make sense, let me know.. thanks so much!
I would like to make one family member guardian of our child in the event of both of our deaths. And the other family member in charge of the trust for the child. Im i asking for problems having two diffrent people involved, I feel its safer. Or, am i better off making the guardian and trustee the same person?
I recently bought some property (with mortgage), opened a checking account, set up cable, electricty and applied for a dept. store card so with all these 'hard' inquiries I am expecting my credit score to take a hit. I just dont know if i should wait a week or a month to get a score with all these potentially negative items factored in.
I was served papers to appear in court Dec.7 for some unpaid medical bills. I called and made an appointment to see an attorney to file bankruptcy. The appointment is for Nov.19. Will that give me enough time to get the papers filed and avoid having to go to court? I know about the "stay" that prevents creditors from calling etc., but that hasn't been a problem. They tried to garnish my wages, but I didn't earn enough for them to take anything off the top. I just don't want to have to appear in court with all my bank statements, tax returns, list of property, etc that the papers requested. I am a single mother, working 40 hours a MONTH, taking care of senior and disabled people. Rent my home, old car, paid off....I have nothing worth taking. Any input would be appreciated...if you know about this..Really!
Our HR department announced this morning that they expect health care premiums to go up by 35% for fiscal 2010. Are the insurance companies price-gouging in advance of the legislation pending in Congress? If so, will they get away with it, or will the government retaliate?
We keep telling them that this person doesn't reside at the number they keep calling! They won't stop calling and they have gotten mean about it too! We have told them time and again that this person doesn't live here but the calls don't stop! This person doesn't even go by the same family name!
I applied on bestbuy.com for their Rewards Zone Mastercard. I called them to ask what my credit limit would be and they said $300. The Reward Zone MC is issued by HSBC where I bank and also have two other credit cards with high lines of credit. I always pay my bills early and just recently I bought a new car. How do they determine the initial limit when you apply for a card? There really isn't an explanation for such a low limit when I have good credit and have used HSBC for my banking for the last couple of years. I wanted to finance a tv and that's why I applied. I would put it on one of my other cards but I don't want to carry a high balance. Any suggestions on how to get them to raise my limit. I'm not in a big hurry to purchase a TV I just like the new LED kind and want one for my living room.
I am trying to buy a house that was recently the object of a trade. (I have been told by my bank that they do not consider this an arms-length sale) Because I was expecting to pay less than 20% down, my bank will require PMI. I am being told by the bank that PMI will not even consider insuring this mortgage until at least 90 days after the recent transaction and then they still may not because the previous transfer was not "arms-length"
I have tried to do some research on this and I do see that for FHA financed mortgages, they do have a 90-day rule to protect against fraudulent flipping. but I am not seeking FHA financing.
Do most private mortgage insurers follow this 90-day rule or is my bank and their insurer being conservative?
I'm a scrapbooker, and so is one of my best friends. I have more disposable income than she does. I am going to a somewhat pricey scrapbook convention in January (about $350), and I'd love for her to come with me, but financially it is out of the question for her. I think she could use the time away - she just had a miscarriage this past summer and was talking about going away on her own for a few days this fall, but she hasn't done it - again I think because of financial issues.
So is there any way I can pay for it and get her to go without offending her &/or her husband? I know if I put it to her directly she'll say no. The only thing I can think to do is to tell her husband that I'd like to do it as a surprise for her birthday, and then maybe she'll accept it graciously even though we usually only exchange apx. $20 gifts. Still, I don't want her to be okay with it on the surface and be offended inside . . . What should I do??
I don't do a lot of internet shopping, so i just use my checkcard. I do catalog shopping more often, and most of them don't accept Paypal...
What is the difference? Is it safer? Is it a separate account? Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what paypal is, and what the appeal is, and why so many eBayer's prefer it as payment (both buyers and sellers)?
I went to see a chiropractor at the start of this year for a suspected trapped nerve in my neck. The chiropractor took an X/Ray of my full spine, started making 'adjustments' to my lower back, upper vertebrae & neck. I went through 12 weeks of adjustments, 12 weeks of muscle spasms & therefore chronic pain and now find myself losing my job through ill health. Before you say I can take them to court, I signed a disclaimer in order to get my money refunded, so therefore don't have a case
I paid for an item that was for 189.99 and it came out of my bank account and now its back in there!! I do not know why or if something went wrong. HELP?!!
I recently found out I have a tax lien on my car (from ten years ago in another state!) I also just had my car totaled and the insurance won't pay until I supply them my title. I couldn't find it, and had to submit for a new one (from the same state the lien is in.) Will that new title show the state as a lien holder on my vehicle?
Can we sell it and put the money away for medicaid or do nothing with it? So afraid of doing the wrong thing, never had to deal with anything like this.
every morning yew wake up, get ready for the day, sometimes go to work or study if your a student, eat, drink, walk the dog or whatever, maybe theres a tv programme you like thats on at 6, same old pub down the road, same old faces, sleep....I can't help but think that routine dominates our lives so much that most of us aren't enjoying it as much as we should. Yew think ooo a holiday would help, and yes the idea does excite you for a bit but most of the time when you get there you fall straight into planning every single day out so theres not really any suprise left. Kind of sad to think about really...Is there anything without routine??
When I'm cruising around Askville I frequently get a binging sound followed by a message saying I had an "Ajax Error". The messages usually come in multiples of 3 or 4 and are difficult to clear from my screen so I can get on to the next exiting adventure on the 'Ville.
methods to experiment on your own? I've seen this expression in business journals urging one to choose the roads less traveled. I believe, in most cases, it leads to disaster unless you're an artist or doing some other type creative work. You can be creative in business, of course, but too much creativity can doom your ship to flounder. What do you think?
