Details:

I'm asking this because my husband just had a strange experience. He's working out of town, and when he got back to his hotel room, the door was open and all of his things were gone. There were cables running out of the room and boxes of equipment in there instead. He went to the front desk and was told he'd been moved to another room down the hall because a movie was being filmed and they needed his room. This is NOT a high class hotel, so he was wondering what kind of movie they'd be filming. A while later he went into the hall and was shocked to see Robert DeNiro leaving with some bodyguards. He's a huge DeNiro fan, so while he didn't actually meet him, he was asked to leave the hallway area by DeNiro's bodyguards. I'm jealous! I've never seen a celebrity up close, let alone met one--have you?

...a warm body in the basement of a museum in Florida, "Danno" from Hawaii 5-0 (James MacArthur) came and spent a week filming a special in our place. He was nice but very short.

Also, Sally Field’s brother was a Professor of Physics at the university. When she came to visit him he wangled her a full tour of our museum. I met her then, too. She was very nice, but even shorter than MacArthur - absolutely tiny. I can see why she has osteoporosis - she was itsy-bitsy.

When I was curator of a museum here in Texas, the wrap-party for Selena was held at our place. J-Lo was there - she is also short and very animated.

Lady Bird Johnson came to a do at our museum also. Very elegant and well-spoken lady. She danced with my boss who almost died of embarrassment.

At a museum conference I met Cheech Marin (Cheech and Chong). He has a company that makes stage sets and museum exhibits. Again, very nice but short.

Pepe Serna likes to eat at the same Vietnamese restaurant we do and we see him periodically when he is in town. And he is nice but short.

Freddy Fender used to eat at the same Mexican restaurant we like. Also nice, also short.

My brother is a musician so we periodically meet some of his fellow musicians and a few folks with pages in IMDb. One in particular I remember was Kinky Friedman. He was not short and he was totally uninterested in being nice as he was busy talking. Also his cigars were really smelly.

I met Ronald Reagan once when I was on a tour of the California Capitol. He was nice, charismatic, very tall, and had an unfortunate taste in incredibly red carpet in his office. Also very shiny shoes.

When they filmed Pearl Harbor here, we met Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett. Hartnett was nice (and tall). Affleck was NOT nice. Both were handsome.

And my Dad shared an elevator with the Monkees once. He said they were noisy, bouncy, and short.

I’ve run across a few others but I can’t think of them now.

"Living in Hollywood it's hard not to see the occasional star walking around. I've been up close and personal with a few."

Back in the 80's I use to bartend at a place called Ports on Santa Monica Blvd. It was one of those dark, word of mouth type places. I've been insulted by Bruce Willis as I escorted him out the door for attacking a young lady in the restroom. He told me that " No stupid, b**ch, bartend was going to tell him what to do." and then he threw his drink on me. (This was right around the beginning of Moonlighting) He got thrown out by another patron and he was 86'd permanently. What a jerk!

I met a lot of musicians from Depech Mode, Billy Idol, Stray Cats, The Go Gos, Tom Waits, Simple Minds, and John Doe from X to name a few.

My Favorite at the time was Bryan Ferry  Even now just look at that face. Anyway, The bar was really busy and my friend came running up all excited "Look, look who's at the end of the bar." I look and say "Who?" "That's Bryan Ferry" I said "No, It's not now leave me alone." He had just left her table after eating dinner. She kept saying it was and I didn't believe her.  I served him for about an hour and when his party was about to leave I told him " You look a lot like Bryan Ferry but not enough to fool me. I am his biggest fan" Well of course, it really was him. I saw the credit card receipt. I still have the $50.00 bill he signed for me

I waitressed for a year with Anne Ramsey who went on to become Lisa Stemple on Mad About You. She was recently on CSI she was really nice and we had some fun times after our shifts were over.

When I first moved to LA in the late 70's I live in a highrise on Sunset Blvd. My next door neighbor was Stacey Keach.

Donavan lived in the penthouse  and Ronney Blakley

lived on the 7th floor. We all use to hang out by the pool together.

My biggest claim would have to be my elevator ride with Bob Dylan, I was coming back to my apartment with my laundry and he was going to visit Ronee Blakely. I was at a loss for words. I just stood next to him rode all the way up until he got off and then rode back down with a grin from ear to ear. It was all I could talk about for days. Of all the people I have met (there are a lot more than I have mentioned here) he is the only one that fazed me.

Now, I live upstairs from an up and coming star. Henry Lubatti. He was on the Showtime series The Sleeper Cell and CSI, OC, The Unit and House MD, General Hospital and many more. To me he is just Henry and he helps fix the plumbing. LOL

"Here are some famous people that I met......"

When I was in the Army and stationed in Seoul, South Korea at Yongsan military post, the USO would bring in celebrities to entertain the servicemen and women.  Between 1988 and 1989, I was able to see the musical groups listed below on our post there.  I was a military policeman and we did all the security for the shows and that afforded us the opportunity to meet with all these entertainers after the shows were over.

Tower of Power

Foghat

The Commodores (without Lionel Richie)

Martha Reeves & The Vandellas

Randy Travis

blown away when I saw him up on the screen!

I was pretty good friends with him when I went to Temple University back in 1969. We hung out together with a group of friends, and his name was Dennis Carrelli.

About 10 years later, after I was married and had kids my husband and I went to see a movie called "Breaking Away", about an American college student who competed in the Italian bicycle races. As we were watching the movie I kept nudging my husband, saying "I know that guy!" He had changed his name to Dennis Christopher, but it was definetly him.

Awhile later my dad went to a play with Elizabeth Taylor in it - and he was in it also - it might have been The Little Foxes - anyway, my dad went backstage and met him, asking him if he remembered me. He called me and we caught up on things and talked about old friends. He also had some part in a movie called The Wedding, and another one, Fade to Black.

I've seen him occasionally on t.v. stuff since then, but we haven't kept in touch. It was really amazing to be sitting there, seeing someone I knew from college who had actually pursued his dream.

I hope he's doing well and still working!

"My surprise was a queit fella that loves to play golf..."

It happened at an MWR (Military Welfare Recreation) golf course in Germany. This queit man that can entertain with his rock and roll, a very active loud singer on stage was playing golf and really down to earth!

I had missed his small golf vacations in the past but this time he came in while I was there, know one would ever think that Alice Cooper plays golf!

He is very pleasant to be around a man that is so down to earth he will take time to talk with everyone around him. His golf game is not to shabby either!

When I was younger, we used to go to a little piano bar in Newport Beach, Ca. It was right on the beach. One night there was a couple that were wonderful dancers. We started a conversation with them and ended up spending the evening with them, dancing and talking. We knew they looked familiar, but couldn't figure out who they were. We even asked, the gentleman said we would know if wife better than him. We had a very nice evening. The next night there was a special on TV and we both almost fell off the couch! It was Burt Bacharach and Angie Dickinson!
