First you need to determine your ovulation date. If you are using an early pregnancy test (20 mIU/hCG sensitivity pregnancy test), you can begin testing at between seven and ten days past ovulation. For home pregnancy tests, it is suggested that you begin testing the first day of your missed period.

If you do test early, it is recommended that you follow up with another test, especially if your period is late. HCG levels will become present in urine after the fertilized egg implants - usually a week after ovulation for most women. However, all pregnancies are different, and this time frame may vary among women. Also, a differing rate of hCG production may also be a factor.
