12 seconds is fast. 14 is probably more like it for someone of high school age in moderately good shape and trying hard in PE class.
I like the mile distance much better. I always remember the limiting factor on my 100 yard/meter time was the ability of my legs to move fast and stay coordinated, rather than my stamina. It seems that I hit a certain speed and then running any faster I would start to stumble because my legs couldn't keep up with how fast I was trying to run.

I ran the 1000 in 3:34
Well you are pretty good at them and you seem like you take 1:25 to run a lap, that is pretty good, try to dash the last 100 meters with all your strength
