I want to make Roasted Tomato Soup but the last step in the recipe I found is to pass the final mixture through a food mill fitted with the coarsest blade. I don't have a food mill and don't think I want to buy one so is there a way around the food mill. I do have a very old Cuisinart, if that would work.
handles(silver steel) but instead of blades they are attached to a round steel circle, but when you press then handles together small spike like blades come out of the inside of the circle. Can you help identify this?
he really does a lot of cooking and wants a shun classic set...i can't exactly afford the whole set, but i am getting him a few knives that i think are important in addition to the ceramic. any ideas?
I thought of putting it in the self-cleaning oven cycle but I might ruin it. Too bad that Cooldaddy manufacturer didn't coat the well. It is so ugly I am thinking to go back to my Frydaddy that has no indicator that the oil is hot enough to deep fry. Frydaddy was easier to clean. Frustration!!
I forgot about a (solid steel?) kettle for 2 hours or something on an electric range (no whistle; dumb of me, but it happens with pots, too). I've scrubbed it with detergent and baking soda since, but the outside has a bit of bronze-ish discoloring and the inside is kind of speckly, although I think it's improved some since I started trying to clean it up. I am hoping that it's just rust/oxidation and that I might be able to get it all off, in which case I'd assume it were safe for use, but I'd like to know for future reference if there's any way to tell about that sort of thing. Obviously I'd prefer not to throw it out if it's still good, and I don't want to waste my time if it's definitely not.
I've got Allclad and love it. I recently got some Ruffoni (stainless steel), but it's so gorgeous, I haven't cooked with it yet. Those of you who have used it, what do you think? Is it worth the large price?
I'm just curious, is there anyone else out there that is hooked on Pampered Chef stoneware. I have ALL the cranberry glazed AND unglazed pieces they ever put out. I love how they cook and look, and I give them away as gifts also. No, I'm not a rep, just really like the stuff.
If you do have a thing for it, what's some of the food you like cooking in it?
I ordered this waste basket for about 20 dollars several years ago. I loved it. I moved and it was lost in the move. I would love to get another one . Sheri216
I want a really good quality chef's knife that I can keep for decades to come. I don't want ceramic because I have heard that they can shatter if dropped. I'm thinking of something maybe seven or eight inches long that will be a good, all-around knife. I can spend up to around $80 or so. I'm especially interested in hearing from any professional chefs out there, but would also appreciate input from anyone who really knows what they're talking about. Any suggestions for make, model, size, shape, metal type, etc. ???
My grandson put one of those mac and cheese cups in the microwave and forgot to put the required water in and it burned in the mic. There was smoke everywhere. We got it out of the house (the smell) almost, but I'm not sure how to get the smell out of the mic. I cleaned it with baking soda but it still stinks. any ideas???
I have some of my mother's Revere Ware, but the pots are missing the tops. One pan holds 7 cups.....Too narrow for the tops I have in my set. Is there a site that you can just buy the lids?
Is non-stick the way to go? All-Clad? I have no idea where to start. I have been using bad pans for a while now and don't know what to look for in good pans. I am about to (finally) start my gift registry and have no idea what to ask for. My mom says go for all-clad, thats what she has and loves it. But it seems so expensive to me. Is there a middle ground that isn't so expensive, but is good cookware? I love to cook, and I love using my mom's pots and pans, but I can't see asking for such expensive gifts. Plus, later on down the line I will be buying these for myself.
I have seen drinking glasses that look like small carafes at bars and restaurants and would like to buy some for my home. They are glass and have the "emblem" on them.
These are often used for rice, potatoes, and many other things. Especially handy when cooking in one kitchen to take to another home. Usually seen in sets of varying sizes from 700 ml to 4-5 liters. Are they available in the US?
so now I'm at work, and I have to poo. Why does that stupid oatmeal have to be the perfect breakfast food? I HATE pooing at work. I always feel like people know what I'm up to in there. If I'm FORCED to drop deuces during the workday, I usually go downstairs and across the building and use the bathroom in a department where no one knows me (there's about 900 people at my job). And it's not just at work, it's anywhere... I have a serious problem making fudge in public restrooms. My boyfriend is worried that i'm messing up my innards by holding in my poops till i get home.
There's one lady who poops in the bathroom that's the most central to the building EVERYDAY at 2pm, like clockwork, and she stinks up the hallway, which i think is kinda rude. Why not use an out of the way toilet? We call her "The 2PM Mystery Deucer." I don't want my co-workers to know me by my poops.
Anybody else have share my issue with extreme discomfort with public pooing? Come on, spill the beans. LOL
I read somewhere that people of African descent tend to have "watery" earwax, Asians have "dry" earwax, and Caucasians earwax is more waxy (like sticky). I remember when i was younger, my mother would always wet the q-tip before she stuck it in my ear, and I'm assuming this is because she thought MY earwax would be of the "dry" variety, like the statistics say her own would be... though mine tends to be more liquidy.
I clean my ears everyday (because otherwise they feel all wet inside) which might be BECAUSE i clean them out everyday (cochlea working overtime perhaps to accommodate all the wax i clean out everyday.
How often do you clean your ears out? What kind of wax do you have (do you fit your statistic)?
.....our windshield wiper fluid is frozen solid in our cars, even after the car has been running for 15 minutes or so/ But, you go to your local gas station and they bins of washer fluid are in the form of a liquid? They cannot possibly empy and refill every hour.
everywhere! It's not that noticable, because it's so fine, but it seems to be on everything and everyone. And they are hacking up furballs, and not in the litter box. So, I got to thinking... Maybe I'll shave my cats and be done with the cat hair problem. Now on the slight chance that I actually do this, and the slim chance that I survive the encounter, are there any downsides??? Besides the cost of the shaving cream, the multiple razors, first aid salve and bandages??? I know the cats aren't likely to be too happy with the turn of events, but will they be safe and warm enough without their fur covering? Will they suicide bacause they look too strange? Am I likely to find "presents" in obscure places?
One of the freezers is a little box sized one and is coupled with a refrigerator, and one is a stand up freezer and the other is regular sized freezer on one side and a refrigerator on the other side. I cannot even keep ice cream overnight in any of the three. It gets really soft. Why is this?
