Details:
This is a derivative of tic-tac-toe where each square in the regular 3x3 tic-tac-toe grid is made up of its own little tic-tac-toe grid. In order to win a square, you have to win one of the inner games. To beat the game, you have win three squares in a line. On the first move the first player makes one mark, but after that, each person takes turns making two marks at a time. This last rule is what makes the game much more interesting than boring old tic-tac-toe.
I read that this game was analyzed in the "Journal of Mathematical Recreations", but my library doesn't carry this journal and I can't find anything on Google. Does anybody have any info on this game?
