"Why does my husband put hot sauce on everything?"

Details:

Every night he drowns his food in hot sauce, sits there turning red and sweating but insists it's not hot. Everyone else thinks my cooking is great and flavorful. Is this not just a little weird?

I, too, have seen guys drown things in hot sauce. In fact, when I was in high school there was a guy that would literally walk around school with a big bottle of hot sauce in his pocket. I think it could be the "macho" thing to do. Or maybe he's a glutton for punishment and likes the adrenaline rush! Or he just likes the hot sauce's flavor and has overcome the crazy-hot side effects. Guys do silly things sometimes. Then again, so do girls (I tend to drown everything in ketchup).

So yeah, it's slightly weird but we all have our quirks!

At least for me.  I know lots of people who consider hotsauce to be the equivalent of using cheap steak sauce at an expensive restaraunt: a veiled insult to the cook.

That's not true, though!  Hot sauce actually stimulates your nerves, not your tastebuds, so it's not incompatible with enjoying the flavor of a dish.

I wouldn't worry about it being a comment on your skill as a cook.  My guess is, your husband just loves hot sauce.  I know I do!

You get a bit of a high from consuming it. I go through at least a bottle a week, myself. :)

i use hot sauce on my food sometimes.i have a friend who cant get enough of the stuff its nothing to be ashamed of he might like the taste of the sauce so it isnt your food :).
