"Could someone please help me to understand my 71 year old father????"

Could someone please help me to understand my 71 year old father so I’m not so aggrevated by his comments and actions all the time?

I get nothing but negativity from him and his wife and he never acknowledges anything happy or positive. You’d think, by the way he acts, that I’m some crackhead living on the street and begging him for money to feed my 10 kids!!!! (continued in DB)

Thanks for anyone that can help me “understand” this so I’m not so irked everytime I talk to him. I’d like to enjoy his company while he’s still here. My mom died way too young at 52 and I know at anytime I could lose my dad, too.

I don't know what happens to some people as they enter the twilight years. My mother used to be a fairly positive person but now everything is a complaint. I think that these behavioral changes are fairly prevalent but understudied. There is one web site that has a number of articles relating to the elderly and behavioral issues, hopefully you can find some answers there.

rather than just treat the symptoms? Why have I developed allergies NOW after 12 years of exposure; and not the first year that I moved here?

Everyone told me that after four years I would develop allergies to the tree pollen in our area and I didn?t believe them. It has taken about 10 years. But the last two years have been miserable for me.

After moving to an area with many types of trees and high spring/summer humidity; I have developed the same allergies that all the local residents who have lived here since their birth suffer with. I did not have these allergies when I moved here. I am miserable now.

My question is: After 12 years has the pollen accumulated in my system and finally reached a threshold that now produces major symptoms? Or has my immune system that has always been able to protect me over the years just worn down after years of exposure? I don?t want to take medications and I also don?t want to move. Can this be reversed without having to move?

I found this site when I goggled a question about my brother in law and his schizophrenia. It took me to this site and someone on here really helped me out. Anyways I was just searching different questions and want to know if we could answer questions from months ago. When doing that I found someone who posted that they hate it when people ask questions that can be goggled. Then there was someone responding how they to did not like that also and said they especially hated when people ask a question about movies, books and music which obviously can be goggled. This is really confusing me because when I did find this site , I thought this was great and that I could now use this instead. So am I wrong?? Are there certain things I shouldn't be asking here? Im not trying to start anything here just want to follow the rules. I do apologize for my bad punctuations here also, I know how on some sites people get upset with it. HELP, PLEASE!: you may help me understand--I love my sister & years ago, she was hospitalized for a year for depression. I visited her regularly. Now she's a born-again Christian who won't talk about our past, i.e. growing up, at all. She got furious the one time I brought up her hospitalization.
I want to understand how she must feel & think about having been hospitalized back then. I'm imagining
shame, embarassment, fear, self-beration, etc., but don't know. Can you help me understand? books? Thanks!
