my white sugar canister is slightly smaller (it could theoretically nest in the flour canister) The set is from tupperware - 4 tallish round canisters in graduated sizes. (largest is around 8.5" tall) I also have canisters I bought at safeway that are actually marked 4.5 qt on the bottom... I'm using those for other products, but they seem to be the same size as my flour canister, hence the estimate.

Other interesting questions:

Is there a way to know the equivalent of quarts vs. lbs? For instance, I am wondering about a container that says 6 qt.,

will this size hold a full 5 # bag of flour in it? How can you know amounts of dry ingredients when the container lists it in liquid amounts? I find it very confusing so if someone has a way to decipher this please share it. I guess it comes down too liquid vs volume maybe?

I am thinking about getting a canister that I can use with my Food Saver that is 6 qt. to hold my flour in, but I am not sure it will hold the whole 5 #'s. I know a gallon jar does but that is too big and I need that for other things.

Can anyone help with this problem? I have wondered about this type of thing for other items also so would be good to know how to tell.
