Details:

My Mom hates cleaning windows with Windex or similar products, because they always leave streaks, no matter what trick she has tried. She has a very old bottle of something called "glass wax" that she has almost used up. Apparently, you rub it on the glass wet, and then wait for it to dry to a haze. Then, you wipe off the haze with a clean cloth. No streaks, clean windows, ta da! We'd like to know if there is anywhere to still get such a product.

"amazon or local drug stores?"

I’m sure amazon has glass wax, and most likely your local drug store will surely have it.

Try Turtle wax brands, http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-T420B-Clearvue-Professional/dp/B0009JKGJM/

If you write glass wax in the search box, this will appear:

Glass Wax®-Sub Window Wax $ 5.99
Glass Wax®-Sub Window Wax $ 5.99

Otherwise, you may want to try something called gel-gloss: it's the exact same thing as glass wax!

"Rain-X"

What you describe sounds exactly like Rain-X for car windshields.  It's essentially a wax for glass (like the product you describe).  You apply it in the same fashion as well.  I'm sure you could use it on windows for your house too.  You can get it at Walmart or any automotive store.

I have used Glass Wax years ago and just as early as last year I found a can. I went back for another this year and they were out of it. I wrote to the manufacturer and was told that they have discontinued this product. They make a replacement product called Gel Gloss. This works just like Glass Wax did and is just as good. I use for the ceramic cook top, shower door and all the windows. You can by it in a pour can or a spray can at Home Depot for $6.49. Great stuff!!!
