I would recommend Standing Military Presses and Seated Dumbbell Presses.

Standing Military Press:

Seated Dumbbell Press:

Both of the links to the above exercises do solid jobs showing the steps and explaining how to properly do them. The military and dumbbell presses are probably the two best exercises you can do in an effort to broaden the shoulders. Hope they help, and Happy Holidays!

"Look at the athletes that have broad shoulders"

Swimmers, weight lifters, pole vaulters all have well defined broadened shoulders.  It's a matter of using those muscles, and using them enough with the right  resistance to build them up.  I can't see any easy way of doing it, it's all hard work.
