Question Details:
I'm looking at some new high performance desk top PC's. The best prices are the ones that are offered in "Kit Form" and I have a minimal amount of experience with desk top mechanics/electronics. However, at work, I have had to exchange hard drives on our HP desk tops from time to time and it didn't appear to be very hard if everything was plug-in and simple solder work, (particularly with good instructions).
Does anyone who has done this kind of thing have any opinions on the difficulty level, (say a scale from 1 to 5, 5 being the hardest)?
I don't know if this would help you in your answer but I have a high mechanical aptitude, (25+ years in many high precision giant and micro machining projects), and a basic understanding of micro electronics, (ie; capacitors, resistors, diodes, transistors, etc.), as well as about 20 years using solder irons on small electronics found in most pc boards.
