From a review: "Dell never had the reputation of being innovative, in spite of being a well-known vendor in the computer market. That’s precisely the reason why the new Dell XPS m1330 comes as a complete surprise to all computer fanatics. The very new XPS m1330 is a sleek and sexy high-end laptop that is backed by great performance and a great design, sure to turn heads. At the price of $2000 and above, this is surely a top class product.
For a laptop to fall in the ultraportable category, the weight would have to be below 4 pounds and XPS m1330 weighs 3.9 pounds with a four-cell battery. The nine-cell battery takes the weight up to 4.7 pounds, still making it lighter than a mainstream laptop. This lightweight 13-inch traveler’s delight has a thin frame and large screen, giving it an edge over any competition. The choice of colors is many, black, white and crimson red, making it appealing for people of different ages.
All keys in the Dell XPS m1330 keyboard are full sized. The keyboard has accents of black on a silver brushing, making it a beautiful contrast with the various lid colors. The keyboard houses quite a few extras like an eject button for the DVD drive, touch sensitive controls for volume and media playback, and another button to get to Dell’s proprietary Media Direct software. The mouse is good but the touch pad is small. There is no problem of excess warmth of the palm rests. Except for the small touch pad, XPS m1330 is a dream keyboard even for writers to work on.
Dell has finally, with XPS m1330, upgraded to a good screen. The large LED screen measures only quarter of an inch in thickness. The 13.3-inch screen is larger than most ultraportable laptops. You will notice that the text is very clear and the color contrast is great when viewing heavy pixel images. The XPS m1330 boasts of a transflective screen (type of LCD screens that work well in any lighting, from bright sunlight to complete darkness), with a resolution of 1280x800. You will also find a webcam on top of the display.
Dell XPS m1330 has a slot-loading DVD burner. The HDMI-out port that comes with this laptop is valuable for video and powerpoint presentations. There are two USB ports and a FireWire port. The XPS m1330 comes with a 2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor, a 160GB hard drive, and 2 GB RAM. The XPS M1330 helps you stay connected wherever you are, with the help of a cellular modem to connect to the internet where there are cell phone signals, and the speed of downloads is 3.1 Mbps. This comes with the option of Bluetooth and 100MB Ethernet. The integrated 1.3-megapixel camera is a valuable addition that helps you handle your video chats, with MSN Messenger, Skype, or SightSpeed.
An exceptionally good 3D performance makes XPS M1330 out of the ordinary. This is a rarity in ultraportable laptops. The battery life when watching a DVD with a nine-cell battery is 3 hours 23 minutes and with other normal computing, it could very well be over 5 hours.
Overall, Dell has at last come up with a masterpiece and delivered an awesome laptop with great features. This should surely be at the top of your shopping list this season."

Dell XPS M1330
Unlike the bulky, unattractive 12-inch Dell XPS m1210, the M1330 has clearly been built with an emphasis on good looks and clean lines, ditching the earlier model's cumbersome, rotating Web cam and thick chassis. The system is slightly wedge shaped, going from 0.87 inch in the front to 1.3 inches in the rear. At less than four pounds, it's one of the lightest 13-inch laptops we've seen--nearly a full pound lighter than the popular yet hefty 13-inch Apple MacBook, and a touch lighter than the 12-inch XPS M1210.
The keyboard tray is brushed silver with black accents, while the lid is available in black, white, or red. Our review unit had the matte-red finish (Dell calls it Crimson Red), which looks great, but more color options (as with the newly revamped Inspiron line of laptops) would have been welcome.
Dell manages to squeeze a good number of extras onto the keyboard tray, including touch-sensitive controls for volume and media playback, an eject button for the slot-loading DVD drive, and a quick-launch button for Dell's proprietary Media Direct software. The biggest drawback we found with the M1330's design was the tiny, 2.75-inch touchpad, which we found to be particularly frustrating given the fact that there's plenty of room on the wrist rest for a bigger pad.
