Right click an empty area of your desktop, click properties, select appearance tab..Under color scheme, use the pull down menu, and choose the color you would like to use. I use the silver, just for a change, once in awhile. You should have default blue, olive green and silver to select from. Once you select the color you want to use, then click apply, then OK..Good Luck..

The answer only applies to desktop setting. In Office 2007, to change the appearance of all of these Microsoft applications, including Outlook:
From Word, click on the office "orb" (formerly the File menu) and select "Word Options" at the bottom of the window. Frome the "popular" tab, one can change the Color scheme to silver or black (nice variety, eh?! no wonder people love Mac OS).
