Details:

I need to get a new cell phone plan and am starting to investigate options. I am going to get a shared plan for two phones with not too many minutes. What plan do you have, what does it cost, and are you happy with it?

"I would recommend the Sprint Family Plan."

The first thing that is important to say is that it really does depend on what region you are in. Different plans have different rates depending on what part of the country you are from. For example, when I did a lot of research a few years back when I was selecting a family plan, I found Sprint had the best deal for us in Michigan. However, when I helped my uncle out east in New Jersey find a plan, Verizon had the best family plan options for him out there. It is like that because of the amount and locations of the companies' cell phone towers. If Sprint has more in the midwest, it is cheaper for them to offer plans than it is out east, and vise versa.

I have heard Alltell and T-Mobile are the best in the south. So, without knowing your region, it is very tough to answer properly.

I can tell you in the mid-west region I would recommend going with a Sprint shared plan.

Hope this helps, and sorry it could not be of more help! Merry Christmas!

Does your work get a deal on cell phone minutes? If so they may be able to offer the same deal to you if you go through the same company.

I know where my husband works a company came through offering a real deal but we were with another company at the time so we got the paper and kept it.  Then Alltel said they would meet other plans so we took the paper with all the things that were being offered and got our plan changed.

For over 6 years we have been getting 60 free minutes and paying only $15 (taxes included) per month for one phone.  Even when we had to buy a new phone we were able to keep the old plan just pay for the new phone.  We don't get any of the extras like texting, pictures, internet, mailbox or call waiting as we don't use the phone for that stuff.  We do pay extra if we are out side of our area but that is so seldom it is worth it to us.

We may see about getting another phone if we can keep the same plan as I am willing to pay another $15 a month.  Sure seems cheaper than some of the deals they show on TV and I don't need all those extras.
