I am looking for a good and detailed book on world history, since my education gave me rather little on non-western civilization history. I have done some research and I have some picks that don't cover me fully. First, is "The New History Of The World" by J.M. Roberts. However reviewers say it focuses mainly on western civilization, which is something I don't want. Then, we have "A history of Civilizations" by F. Braudel, which is old (so not up to date with current research) and has a cold-war era bias, and lastly "A Study of History", by Toynbee, which has a 2-volume Abridged version, but is even older than Braudel's work. So, any other recommendations that might suit better my requirements of depth (it should be detailed), breadth (not focusing on western) and up-to-dateness?
