Details:

heroine has to go back to scandalous family to help search for diary?? that tells secrets of gov't. Forced to help by her employer's godson? Family is fairchild??. Lots of lecherous uncles, crazy cousins, etc.

The most I can remember is the girl is sold as a mistress and her selling point is that she is a virgin. When the man who bought her realizes this he slowly starts to fall in love with her. But because she was bought she can't marry her because she wouldnt be able to be introduced into society with her background so her friend helps cover up the story by saying he purposely bought her to free her because he was in love with her. The book has a very pink front cover.

Raider takes young girl home and gives to his wife to raise, but the horrors of her parents' slaying is too much for such a young child to deal with and leaves her blind and mute as a way to cope. She grows into young woman still unable to see or talk and has a huge dog as her only friend. I think she falls in love with Raider's son but not sure. I remember the cover had a bluish tone and snowy backdrop with the young woman and her dog in the foreground.

thanks to all who responded to my question. one of the books is about a young lady that runs away from her "capture" and winds up in jail with this thief who really is the hero of the tale and the villian in the book has a hairlip or some form of deformity that has to do with his face and he is a cruel man.
The other book has to do with jekyll and hydeish themed but is a romance novel and i think they are supposed to be brothers and the other brother needs to clear his name and his brothers...

in the story the heroine is african and she has an arranged marriage to some guy from another village but she is not into her husband having more than one wife. it is set in africa and it is historical and not a modern story. it is a romance. i remember that the cover is being blue and i think i read it around 1992 or 1993. it talked about different villages and run around in the jungle and something about the hero not caring that he would be considered weak for only having one wife.
