Details:

My 4 year old recently discovered the old Transformer cartoons and is a wee bit obsessed. He was already obsessed with robots (in general) so I thought I might get him one of the transformer toys. I keep reading reviews that they don't actually transform? I remember the ones from when I was a kid, did...didn't they? I guess I am asking for a little mommy buying guidance here for something I don't quite "get". If you know of a better robot type toy I am open to suggestions. TIA!

update: OK I did find some that transform, still feel like I need help however...ugh.

There are tons of robots to choose from at www.robotoys.com The transformers that you will see there really transform, But I guess you wont pay attention to transformers anymore when you see some Armored Core, Gundam, robotech and highly collectible Japanese Tin Robots, It's all in the website, I'm pretty sure your kid will be so excited.

These robots do not transform but yes you can create another shape with help of the same pieces used to make the original transformer toys.

Wow you all are awesome! This totally cleared up my confusion. I had no idea there even was a movie (out of touch much?). OK so I guess we will stick with the smaller ones for now, my son already gets frustrated easily, don't need to aggravate that characteristic!
