"No, Toshiba 47LX196 HD = 1080i "

The spec says 1080i in it but according to Toshiba, this simply means the TV has 1080 vertical signals, but it’s not progressive scan. The HDMI input on the TV can only take 1080i signals.

The LZ series is the true 1080P TV. (47LZ196)

"Well, I have news for those who think of buying the LX model (or any 1080p labeled TV for that matter). In toshibish language, 1080p means that 'the TV panel has 1080 vertical pixels'. None of the connections on the LX model can accept 1080p signal. Even the two HDMI inputs don't accept 1080p signal, so if you think of playing a 1080p signal from your HD DVD (or Blue-Ray) player, XBOX 360, or PSP3, now you know that you have to buy a TV with an HDMI 1080p input capability. You might buy a 1080p TV, but can NOT play a 1080p signal.?#%^!"

"I don't have the model you have but I think your problem is real."

I have the 42LZ196, which is the latest Cinema Series Pro model. Yours is 47LX196, which is the Cinema Series. The LZ models have 2 1080p HDMI inputs, but on the LX models Toshiba does not mention that.

So I think the LX has 1080p resolution, but its HDMI inputs may or may not handle 1080p signals? If not, then you can only get 1080p signals from your HDTV tuner directly from cable.

I suggest you call up Toshiba support to clarify this.

My bad, after finished the question then I realized if you are asking weather the TV is 1080P or How to get HD signal from the HD source.

You'll need to specify what problems you are having. No graphic at all? Graphic at low resolution?
