A: They couldn't.
The Roman Catholic Chruch can only excommunicate Roman Catholics.
I realize that Hitler was born in a Roman Catholic territory, but then not everyone born there was a Roman Catholic . Hitler was literally & figuratively a bastard
Hitler was half Jewish. Which is why he only sent people who were over half Jewish to the concentration camps. A person's life expectantcy dropped quickly if you pointed out this little detail about his ancestry.

Q:
What do Catholic church schools have against grass?
Around here, there are lots of Catholic and Protestant k-12 church schools (schools attached to churches). The Protestant schools all seem to have grass playgrounds and the Catholic schools all seem to have asphalt parking lots used......

A: You know, that's an excellent question now that I think about it!
I don't know if there's anything to it, but I never realized this phenomenon until you asked this question! I went to Catholic school (St. Joe's in Keyport, NJ), and we had recess in the parking lot. The high school didn't have grass, either (St. John's). Now that I've moved, the Catholic school nearby doesn't have a grass lot at all. But you know, it must be coincidence. I searched, and at least THIS catholic school has some grass! http://www.olcs.org/Maybe I was just an unlucky student. Lots of skinned knees!

Q:
Do you need to be an active parishioner of the Catholic church to be married in one?
I am a parishioner of another Catholic church but fell in love with a beautiful old basilica nearby and would like to have my wedding there. I wasn't sure if you needed to be an active parishioner first before have your ceremony.

A: It is up to the church
Each church has its own rules about who it lets marry inside its walls. You may also need to consult the priest of your wedding. They may have a say in where they will officiate at weddings.
Most Catholic churches allow parishoners from other Catholic churches get married in their chappel. Their may be a fee or certain restrictions. It is not normally necessary to estabilish membership in the church to get married in its building.
The church you want to get married in may want to confirm that you are Catholic, and that it will be a Catholic ceremony.
