Wash the walls with soap and hot water. Then I would pain them. You can paint a room in a day. What you are talking about could take days or week to clean up.

Q:
whats the best way to remove gummy residue from tape on an old wooden mask?
I bought a wooden African mask and the shopkeeper placed masking tape on the front with information about the masks (tribe, date). Now the tape has left a gummy residue on it.

A: Well, this is what I'd try first...
Usually I would recommend Goo Gone, it's a great product, but I'm not sure whether it would discolor the wooden mask, not knowing the type of wood and how absorbent it is. So first I would try some Murphy's Oil soap. Put a little bit on a damp rag and rub in a circular motion over the residue until it is gone. If that didn't work then I would try an antique wood cleaner. If you decide to try Goo Gone, I would try it on the back of the mask first to make sure it doesn't discolor the mask.

A: Go to a Janitorial supply, here are a few in your area
|
Hi, I used to do clieaning years ago. I gave up using the regular products purchased at the local stores as they just did not do the job quick enough.
There was a product I only had to purchase one time and I can not remember the name of it. Here in ...funny enough Medford Oregon I would purchase it at the Janitoral supply house. It came in a bottle about one quart size and was aprox $15.00, but it works great. Just apply, wait 5 min and all the spots are gone! It is usually for professional use, but it sounds like what you need! (smile)
If you go to one of these supply stores located near you I am sure they would point you in the right direction for this product.
Royal Paper & Janitorial Supps 4.66 miles (609) 714-0227 26 W Route 70 # 208 Marlton, NJ 08053
Bulldog Janitorial Supply Company 12.68 miles (215) 633-9551 3569 Bristol Pike # 101 Bensalem, PA 19020
Tim's Janitorial Supplies 9.26 mi (856) 566-0092 173 White Horse Pike Clementon, NJ 08021
Hope this helps.
Have a great night
