A: Bonanza!
Picture it - NBC...1959....the tv show is Bonanza, and the world stops laughing for the first time at the technological "flop" that was color television.
Bonanza became such a hit that many shows soon followed the same path, and within 8 years or so color was considered the standard for all television filming and broadcasting.

Q:
I have Comcast digital cable, digital voice, and internet. I have only 1 TV connected to a cable box.
If I install Tivo on my basic cable TV (no box) do I still need to connect to the phone line? Since the digital voice is a VoIP, and the cable is connected to the Tivo, why do I need to connect to the phone as well?

A: you need a phone connection because...
eventhough, everything comes in on a single Coax cable, when it comes to connecting a phone to your Comcast phone service, you connect your phone to a "converter" box, this is the same with you're Tivo, it needs an actual phone line to be connected.
The Tivo doesn't have the ability to internally split-out the phone connection from the cable TV service, the Coax input on the Tivo only "understands" TV signals, not phone signals.
And of course the Tivo needs a phoneline/Internet connection so it can get the daily programming updates and software updates.
