we are getting a ping pong table for our son, but we are thinking we might not be able to get it into our basement. Will a ping pong table last if it is kept in the garage? im just wondering with the winter coming and all

"Yes that is possible but I would recommend an outdoor model"

If it is possible that your table could have any contact with moisture I would recommend looking at an outdoor table. I don't know what your price range is but I bought an outdoor model just for the quality. The link I posted below will take you to the site I ordered from. They have free shipping and I was very impressed with the packaging and condition it arrived in. The box that held the table halves even had little wheels on it to move it to where I needed to assemble it.

"How wet does the garage get?"

most ping pong tables that I know of live in garages, and similar less-climate-controlled rooms.  The two deciding features of the ping pong table will be the metal legs, which could be subject to rust in a wet environment; and the particle board top, which could absorb water and deform in a wet environment.

to protect the metal, there are various spray paints that you can use on them if you see corrosion starting, and you can paint the tabletop with a wood protector if there seems to be condensation collecting on it.
