I had a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid that was a 5 speed. Very nice little car. It got about 50 - 60 miles / gallon on average. I drove it 180 miles a day and it was a fantastic little car. It didn't have a lot of pep, but very few hybrids do so no surprise there. Both catalytic converters went out on it at around 160,000 miles and were very expensive to replace (about $1200) or I'd still have that car. Oil changes were pricey too. So beware ... maintenance repairs on these types of cars are expensive. But you do save a LOT at the pump. I miss that car!

Remember all of these are stick shifts tell me which you think would be the winner. Oh yeah, I'm a single guy so I'm not lugging around a whole family. Just me, my dog and some golf clubs.

What would be a fair price for a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid with salvage title?

Hello, all! My husband and I are looking to buy a used Honda Civic Hybrid. Most of the ones I've seen are advertised for sale at prices around $15,000, $16,000 and higher. But we've found one for considerably less that has 90K on it. The owner says that he buys salvage cars and fixes them up for sale.

Is there anything I should know about an '03 HCH? Had Honda perfected the hybrid system by that time, or would it be better to purchase a newer model on mechanical grounds alone?

(The car looks great in the photos, by the way.)
