Details:

This is a female friend in her early 30s who is a casual friend. I need a gift idea for $15-40. she enjoys scrapbooking and gardening, but has been at both hobbies for a few years, so she has quite a bit of equipment for both already.

She's also the mom of a 1 year-old.

I don't want to go the vague gift route of mittens, scarves, candles, or bubble bath (she's not into stylishness, girliness, or frilly things).

Do you have any really neat gardening/scrapbooking/new mom gift ideas?

"I saw this gift in an Avon book and it is just too cute."

It can either be a pendant that you wear or you can put it on your key chain, but it holds up to 84 photos...you can download the photos from your computer.

I thought it was really cute and it  costs $24.99...

or you could just tell her that you will babysit so that she can go out or that you will pay for the babysitter, I am sure that no matter what you do, she will appreciate it.

"Hand made gift"

I have always had to find gifts for several employees and found that something handmade can suit everyone. For instance I knit little bags and filled them with goodies. I knit them in colors tha most reminded me of that person. Anything handmade is generally appreciated because of the thought and work that went into it.

Another option might be a pedicure.  Even is she is not girly, she might appreciate the comfort and relaxation. It is also something a parent of a 1 year old would not purchase for herself.  A massage is another good option.  Good luck.

"A beautiful vase would do the job"

Girls who like gardening would love to have a vase or two in their homes, esp. during winter time when they can't do gardening.

"continuing education"

Check with your local community college and see if they have a continuing education department. Most offer scrapbooking and gardening classes throughout the year. You could get her a gift certificate for a class - it would be something she might not normally get herself but she would enjoy.

"A book about Linne."

Linne was a famous gardening scientist from Sweden who lived in the 18th century. He built very beautiful parks and gardens for European emperors and he became also famous for his theoretical work.

The link of his wikipedia page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Linnaeus

Some write him Carl von Linne others Carl Linnaeus.

I saw some of his work in the Skansen in Stockholm, its magnifique and very detailed.

Scrapbook kits are really popular and have a variety of things included that would be fun! I go to http://gifti.us/ for ideas on gifts usually.
