Details:

Hi,

I'm desperately searching for a pair of pretty, flat, ivory bridal shoes. A very slight kitten heel would be acceptable, but I am only two inches shorter than my fiance and I don't want to be taller than him in pictures!

I've been looking all over the place and while there are a lot of plain ballet flats, I'd like something a little more special. Ideally I'd like to be able to find something in a store (so I can try it on) or in a place with free shipping to/from (like Zappo's). This is negotiable if I found the "perfect pair", but I'd also like to pay less than 100 dollars. I know, I know, I'm picky! :)

I've exhausted Google as well as my local malls and shoestores. Admittedly I haven't tried bridal salons that feature dyable shoes - but I'd like to keep that as a "last resort." If anyone has any suggestions for web sites or, better yet, stores, I would really appreciate it! I have access to major cities like New York and Boston. Thanks in advance!

I know what you mean about wanting a special shoe, and not being able to find exactly what you are visualizing, I think all women have this problem.

There are three websites that I can think of that have bridal shoes and free shipping both ways. The great thing about these sites is that you can actually search by color, style, heel height and size.

I see what you mean about not being able to find a cute or special bridal shoe that’s flat. Since you said you are open to a “low heel” shoe, I found some that look better than a ballet flat and are under 2 inches. Here are some examples:

The three sites that have shipping both ways and have bridal shoes are Zappos.com, Shoebuy.com, and Lovethemshoes.com.

Click the Blue text below – these are the links that will take you to the stores to view the shoes, and you can also do some more specific searching if you wish.

Love them shoes – this site has some coupons on the side, which will give you even deeper discounts. It’s great because when you click on the style you want it shows you where you can purchase them for the best price. As I mentioned shipping is free both ways.

Low heel bridal shoes

(check the heel heights and prices you desire)

Flat bridal shoes

Zappos – I’ve used zappos a few times and have been very happy with their customer service. The search feature is very complete and helpful. There is also a live chat feature so you can get additional help & guidance.

Low heel bridal shoes

Shoe Buy – also has two way free shipping and a great search feature.

Bridal Flats

There is also an online bridal store that has free shipping, but it does not have free shipping back, which is a bummer. I wanted you to look at the link anyways, just in case because it has a more narrowed search (by heel height, size, color, and open toe/closed toe styles)

http://www.onlinebridalstore.com/Scripts/prodList.asp?idCategory=127

The stores I recommend that you go to are DSW shoes – they always have a wide range of shoes in different heel heights and I always find cute pairs. Also, there are different price points so you can stay within your budget.

Department stores – Dillards, Macy’s, Nordstroms. You might have some luck there and a shoe salesperson can help you find what you are looking for.

I would recommend that you go to a bridal store. I know you want to leave that as a last resort, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a look. You’d be surprised at the affordability of the shoes. A friend of mine is very tall and she had to get some low bridal shoes and they were very pretty, and not expensive. Also, they weren’t the dye kind, they had very nice details on them.

Hope that helped! Good Luck and Congrats!

I had purchased a pair of shoes that were plain for a formal affair. What I did was quite simple and easy to do. I went to a store like JoAnn’s Fabric and bought some pretty lace with some small pearls. I cut the size I wanted and used double stick scotch tape and taped it to the shoe to dress it up. It looked great and I saved a ton of money and also had the sense of accomplishment -- I did it myself.

Buy the ballet shoes that you are comfortable with and see what decorations -- simple lace with pearls or whatever and either glue them or use the double faced tape or hand sew it on. Depends on the material the shoes are made out of. It worked and looked great.

I have also painted some shoes and a small leather bag with color to match my dress -- because at the time I could not find the right color. I used acrylic paint and it looked great for that day but then they stared to crack on the third wear. I think I used the wrong paint but it looked good for the event. I do not advise this method unless you use the correct paint.

Have fun -- you will find all kind so things to apply -- appliques, sequins, pearls, beads, beautiful laces, etc.

Remember, no one looks that closely at your shoes. They are not a people's eye levels so small mistakes will really not matter.

Good luck and hope your marriage is happy, healthy and long.

"It seems that most ballet wedding flats are plain."

However,

I found these two styles at http://formalshoes.homestead.com/orderformapp.html The white pair also comes in Ivory.

You will  also find they have a variety of appliques that you can add to a nice pair of plain satin ballet flats. Here is an example of two of them.

You can find a lot more appliques at http://www.weddingmountain.com/c-548-bridal-shoe-appliques.aspx

I don't know how detailed you want View Close upThese are a pair of Indian Wedding Slippers.
