Delve, as I was too impatient to wait for Windows 7 to arrive, I called Dell's software support again ($239 for 4 incidents (software calls) in 1 year, $110 for 3 more; they charge a premium on impatience!) to see if there was any way I could get back into Windows Vista while saving ALL my files and programs.

The rep. said we'd do a "parallel reinstall" and all my previous files would get relocated to a folder titled "Windows.old" and only the previous iteration of the OS would get deleted, which I didn't mind so much at this point.

I had it done, and now I'm back on my own laptop.

Next step - I plan to cut-and-paste all my folders out of Windows.old back to their original locations. (I wish I could copy-and-paste, but I don't have enough hard drive space.) How do you advise on this plan?

Need To Paint Interior Trim on New Windows

I recently replaced some windows in my house with new Andersen windows and my contractor tells me I need to paint the interior trim as soon as possible to "stabalize" the windows. Why can't I get online music shopping to work in Windows Media Player 10 on my home PC?

No matter which music store I select, WMP just sits there saying, "Please wait while Windows Media Player contacts the online music store." It never goes anywhere, and the little globe icon doesn't even spin to indicate it's trying. I just tried it on my work PC and it's working fine here. I don't have a firewall that blocks outgoing connections at home. Could something be FUBAR in my WMP at home? If so, how can I repair it?
