Details:

What's Benzoyl Peroxide derived from? It's a popular and effective ingredient in acne cream. But is it safe for long-term use? Can it cause diseases like cancer? Thanks in advance!

It is considered safe for long-term use.  There are no indications of cancer or other long-term problems.  It works by creating a very slight acid on the skin, killing bacteria that cause acne.

It's manufactured by chemical synthesis.  From benzoyl chloride with barium peroxide, if that helps, though the barium is recovered and not part of the final product.
