Michael Jackson isn't exactly the easiest artist to imitate, which means last night's American Idol contestants had quite a task ahead of them. Surprisingly, only three of the 13 contestants managed to totally butcher their chosen Jackson classics. The other performances would've, no doubt, earned praise from Jacko himself.
Emo San Diego native Adam Lambert totally rocked "Black or White" last night, while Anoop Desai's version of "Beat It" left the judges feeling like they were in a bad karaoke bar. Last night also featured a season-high performance by Paula Abdul.
The usually loopy judge was oddly on point, making relevant comments that the other judges actually agreed with. Her performance last night set an unusually high bar for the rest of the season, one that she will most likely fail to reach again.
Before we break get into a total recap of last night here's some quick info on tonight's elimination round:
* Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson will perform. * It was announced last night that two contestants, not one will be eliminated. This is most likely because instead of taking in the usual top 12 for the finals, they added an extra contestant. * The judges will apparently be getting some sort of veto privilage, look for this to be explained tonight.
